I have been taught the best way to gain flexibility and condition the legs, is through stance training(true training) such as; doing a true "Ma Bu" horse stance doing this helps to open up the hips. So will diong the other stances in true form and practice. Also to agree with nik, doing taji quan will condition legs and over time & true practice great flexibility will be your reward.
